Some reviews on Neon Ichiban are incentivized — the reviewer received digital store credit for posting the review. Incentivized reviews are always marked with a visible label. The badge has two states so the disclosure is honest about whether the credit has actually shipped:
A short notice also appears at the top of every review list so readers are primed before they scroll. Screen readers announce the full disclosure via aria-label.
We never gate payment on a minimum star rating, on positive sentiment, or on recommending the product. A reviewer earns credit for submitting a qualifying review — not for saying anything in particular. The rating field on every review is optional; a one-star review earns exactly the same credit as a five-star review.
Each new review enters a 24-hour eligibility window during which the reward sweep does not credit. The window exists to let the community surface low-effort or filler reviews via the downvote action before any credit is issued.
A review only earns the incentive when both of these are true at the end of the window:
Reviews that finish the window with a non-positive net score do not earn. They remain visible and continue to count toward platform metrics, but no credit is issued.
Any signed-in member can downvote a review. Downvotes are tallied separately from upvotes and combined into a single net score indicator that is shown next to each review. A net score in red signals a review that is currently below the reward threshold.
We will not act on downvote outcomes in any way other than the eligibility gate above. We do not retroactively claw back rewards from reviews that earned and were later downvoted.
If a review's net score falls below zero, the author may edit the review to clear all existing votes. Editing in this state is treated as a do-over:
This applies only when the net score is below zero at the moment of the edit, and only if the review has not already earned the incentive. Once the campaign engine has paid out, later edits cannot trigger another reward sweep.
Credit may be earned per review, on a milestone basis, or through other structures as published on the Program Page. The current reward structure — including credit amounts, milestones, and per-user caps — is always available at neonichiban.com/hubs/community/review-policy. Regardless of the structure in effect, the reward is never conditional on what you said or how many stars you gave.
The per-review disclosure badge appears on any review where credit has been earned or attributed — consistent with 16 CFR 255 requiring disclosure on every incentivized endorsement, not only on the one that tipped the reviewer over a milestone threshold.
This policy is aligned with the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) and the 2023 FTC Rule on Fake and Deceptive Reviews. If you spot a review you believe is misleading, or have questions about how rewards work, contact support@neonichiban.com.
